Alkali Solutions obtains Reg 31 approval

Alkali Solutions has scored another first by being the only lime slurry supplier in the UK to have Reg 31 approval for a high solids milk of lime into the drinking water industry. Our Puresol product is now approved under Regulation 31 of the Water Supplies (Water Quality) Regulations 2000 for the use in drinking water in England. Approval has also been given for use in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

This enables water companies to benefit from the lower costs of Puresol versus lower strength MOL alternatives (where customers have to pay a premium to transport the additional water) as well as higher cost caustic soda. The high reactivity, low settling and descaling properties of Puresol make it an ideal low cost alternative to caustic soda. Furthermore Puresol is not subject to the price volatility of caustic, does not require expensive heating in winter and is less hazardous than caustic.
